SOCB Climate Responsive Design for Flooding Cities 2026

SOCB Climate Responsive Design Course

Course Brief, Vision and Aim

The Climate Responsive Design course is grounded in interdisciplinary thinking and addresses urgent “need-of-the-hour” challenges posed by the global climate crisis. Extreme climate conditions, particularly rising temperatures and frequent flooding are critically impacting ecosystems, landscapes, species, cities, communities, and human life at every scale.

This moment demands a fundamental rethinking of how we design, plan, and build. Our approaches, mindsets, materials, and spatial practices must shift toward more sustainable, inclusive, and egalitarian models. The course encourages critical reflection and collective experimentation to imagine resilient futures for vulnerable cities.

SOCB brings together perspectives from industrial design, product design, interior design, architecture, urbanism, landscape, planning, emerging technologies, artificial intelligence, and related fields. By creating a shared learning platform with global and interdisciplinary experts, the course aims to educate, empower, and inspire participants to design responsibly for the present and the future.
